This book of photographs with a bilingual text (English and Italian) proposes to the public the photographic work undertaken between 1965 an 1966 by the photographer and film-maker Guido Cosulich during a long stay in Ethiopia as photoreporter for the Italian magazine Vie Nuove.
Guido Cosulich received his education in photography in Rome in the period of Neo Realistic cinematography and this influence shifted his focus onto a “different” Ethiopia, made up of workers, gestures, faces and rituals, observed with the eyes of a person interested in exploring the possibilities of the difficult equilibrium between modernity and tradition. His is a special vision clear and free of any African mythology but excited by the observation of gestures, traditions and characters which exhibit the dignity of the Ethiopian people.
